Hessle Audio mainstay Pangaea quietly released this stunning edit of Loleatta Holloway’s “Stand Up” (itself a 1994 house recycling of her 1976 disco anthem “Dreamin”) alongside a remix of Nomad’s “Devotion” a few months back and it sold out instantly. Pangaea keeps it incredibly simple, twisting up Holloway’s monologue from “Dreamin”’s bridge and wrings it out over a bed of mangled jungle breaks and distorted 808s with little in the way of melody or even a bassline to distract from Holloway’s shamanic vocals. Fans of Pangaea's superb In Drum Play LP should be all over this. Limited edition single-sided 12”, recommended.
